Do you feel like you get enough holiday?
We are very lucky in France to have a generous holiday entitlement (except if you’re your own boss like me 🤓) and if you are a “cadre”, which means you have a sort of manager status and therefore don’t have a 35-hour a week contract, you also get up to 12 days of “RTT” a year, on top of your regular holiday allowance. These are basically time off in lieu days, to make up for working more than 35 hours a week.
Here you can see the holiday entitlement of the OECD countries in one graph.
Unbelievably, the US has 0 days holiday entitlement, including public holidays! Only a handful of other countries, such as Liberia and Kiribati, have no holiday allowance whatsoever.
How does your country compare? Are you getting enough? (Or can you never have enough holiday?)
