Following on from my previous post about holiday entitlement, here's a graphic showing who actually takes all of their holiday...unsurprisingly #Japan comes last.
When I was working in a high school in Japan, the teachers were only going to take 1 week of holiday that summer because they felt it was unfair that they had more holiday than people working in companies. Can you imagine deciding to do that?
Japanese workers cite feeling guilty about letting their colleagues down as a reason for not taking their holidays. Preserving harmony within the group is a very strong part of Japanese culture.
On the Indeed index of job unhappiness, Japan is the most unhappy https://lnkd.in/dVfHxyv. (However, Germany is number 2 on this list, so German unhappiness can't be related to how much holiday they take...)
Do you take all your holiday?
