I remember the first time I made a presentation in a foreign language: It was for a foreign language speech competition in Japan. I was the only non-Japanese person in the competition and therefore the only one to present in Japanese.
Being the only person who was presenting in the native language of nearly every single member of the jury and audience was an extremely nerve-wracking experience!
I wish I had known some of these tips on how to look more confident before I stood up in front of that room full of people, because I'm sure I looked like a nervous wreck.
Luckily this was in the old days, before everyone could take videos on their mobile phones...
The good news is that I actually won the competition (2 tickets to Disney Sea 😁) and after this experience, public speaking in my own language was never as difficult as it was before.
Read my tips here for looking confident when you're speaking to a room full of people, even if on the inside you're shaking like a leaf.
